The New Utopian Landscape (ii)
Object as sculpture;
These are the four objects that I am going to display along side my panoramic and my stop motion. Each of the objects I have selected represent Facebook’s methods of interaction on their super social platform.
Tag: the notion of tagging people in images, making a huge database of peoples faces, the programs they use provide the capability to recognise peoples faces without the need to type anything. As it is spoken about in the privacy document, this can be disabled.
Padlock & key: this is to signify the nature of the document I have deconstructed, the padlock holds connotations of security and safety. Including ideas surrounds https etc.
Compass: this is representative of the geo-tagging that Facebook has recently updated. Users have the ability to log themselves in places when they arrive. When users log into somewhere adverts surrounding where they are could include vouchers, suggestions of places to go, places friends have gone etc.
Overall the items I have selected are things which most people would know about on the website. As I have had to bear in mind the fact that not everybody uses the website, some of the reasons for this is the invasion of privacy.
The colour I have sprayed the items is the closest to the Facebook blue that I could get. I wanted to bring the idea back round so that people could make links back to the site in order to read the work properly.
